We have built The Game of Diffraction: an interactive 3D simulator of a six-circle diffractometer that runs entirely in the browser, for any wavelength, detector, crystal structure and orientation you give it. Turn the circles and watch the Bragg peaks move across the detector in real time. It is meant to help crystallography and synchrotron users navigate reciprocal space before they get to the beamline, and to make how diffraction actually works visible for teaching. Screen recording of The Game of Diffraction: the six-circle diffractometer in the 3D view on the left, with Bragg peaks appearing on the simulated detector image on the right as the motors, energy and crystal structure are changed ▶ Play the game in your browser
